Meet Hasan
I am 18 years old and I’ve recently passed my A-Levels. I found out about Digital Gum after visiting The Curious Lounge. I wanted to join the course to learn the journey of building a website from wireframing to design - the whole creative process. I also wanted to learn the different techniques behind pitching and the employability skills that employers are looking for.
I felt quite nervous and excited on day one but we learnt so much, it was a really good experience. I’m currently working part time as a floor assistant whilst I secure a full time apprenticeship so I could make the commitment to the time needed to the course and project work around my shifts. The biggest benefit to me from the course was becoming more confident in myself by contributing to the team project as part of the course.
My main role in the final project was a website audit and I produced a detailed fourteen page report with suggested changes, broken links, accessibility issues and general housekeeping.
I felt quite nervous at the start of the pitch but as soon as we started presenting our ideas back to the charity I felt more confident and a sense of achievement.
I have detailed knowledge within IT and an interest in technology and I am currently studying part-time at The Curious Lounge the Cybrary - Introduction to IT & Cybersecurity. This has provided me with an overview of several key cybersecurity careers, including responsibilities of the role, common cybersecurity skills used, and common certifications for each role. I am also studying the Open University - Discovering computer networks: hands on in the Open Networking Lab. The topics covered are setting up, configuring and troubleshooting simulated computer networks. How to understand the differences between the small-scale networks typically used in homes and the larger-scale networks used in commercial organisations.
I am looking to start my career in IT and I’m looking for a higher or degree apprenticeship. If anyone can help me in that search I’d be really grateful.
