Meet Sayed

I’m Sayed, from Afghanistan and living in Reading. My work coach Claudette referred me to this course and it was the good atmosphere at The Curious Lounge that made me want to join.

From day one I really liked it so much, especially the other people on Digital Gum who were amazing. They gave each other so much respect which made us all feel very comfortable. Since I arrived in the UK I've been very impressed by the people. Digital Gum was my first time in any UK learning academy so I had a very positive experience. 

As you can tell from its name everything I learned was completely related to digital. I didn’t know there were so many things to make life and business so easy. We learned how to design websites, manage emails, use social media - in the right way, We also learned employability skills including job hunting techniques and how to write storytelling CVs. My favourite modules were using Canva and also how to create a personal website, which I never knew could be possible for a person with my knowledge. 

I was very new in this country so making time to attend the course wasn’t an issue. I had tons of time to attend the lessons and complete the additional project learning. 

Now that I've finished the course I’ve been thinking about the biggest benefits of attending. Personally, being Introduced to different people from different countries around the world was great and having the chance for a fresh start in this country combined with learning a lot about the digital world, which I’m sure will help me in any stage of my life. 

I was one of the students who did their homework straight away because everything was new and I had very little idea of what I would learn in the next lesson. 

I am pleased to share that I am now employed in a sales and marketing consultancy named Citrine Direct. Even though I now have a job I still take time to learn daily. Learning to do a sales job in the UK is very different to what I am used to so I am keen to continue to build my knowledge.

I would recommend Digital Gum because I liked the atmosphere where you learn lots of things and feel a real positive energy.
