What made you join Digital Gum?
When I saw an email from the Reading Creatives MeetUp group describing what the Digital Gum course had to offer, I thought I had to sign up! I was intrigued by the skills and tech we would learn.
Why did you opt for Digital Gum over other digital skills courses?
I hadn’t really noticed any other digital skills courses (unless they were an online course).
What were the digital skills you’re specifically looking to develop? Why?
I was looking to develop my coding skills, learning more about Wordpress, Mailchimp and playing around with Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
How have you found working as part of a team with your co-DG explorers?
Working with my co-Digital Gum explorers was something that actually helped me rediscover something I’ve missed – working with other people instead of just working by myself. It felt like I rediscovered something that I was lacking. Being able to brainstorm and share ideas with people is something that’s difficult when you’re used to working alone most of the time.
And what’s the benefit the expert speakers bring?
The expert speakers give us great insight, especially live demonstrations such as Heath Wallace showing us what the Microsoft HoloLens Mixed Reality can do and what problems it can solve.
How has Digital Gum helped you on a personal level?
Digital Gum has helped me gain more confidence and also helped introduce me to new things. Also it makes you want to look up and discover new things you could try. As you never know if you might be good at it or not. Louize really helped us to settle in and reassured us on anything that seemed a bit scary for us to learn.
What are your plans now you've left Digital Gum?
I hope to keep my video making business going, as well as trying new things like writing, coding, Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality.
What would your advice be to someone thinking about signing up to Digital Gum?
I would encourage them to try it as you never know until you try it. You may learn or become good at a new skill you didn’t know you were good at. Especially if you’re looking for a new job and want to explore a new career path.
What’s been your highlight from the course?
There were quite a few highlights from the course! But my highlight from the course was trying virtual reality, augmented reality and mixed reality for the first time.
